Notes: Located on N side of a line of seven stars trending E-W. The galaxy is easy and obvious. Elongated E-W, more than the catalogue size suggests, I judge 5:1. The halo is asymmetric; the ‘tail’ following the core is longer than what precedes it. Perhaps I am detecting NGC1023A but not seeing it as a separate object. Two faint stars seen in the halo, one either side of the core. |
