Notes: On the S edge of M43 a faint bridge of material connects it to M42. On the E side of M43 there are obscuring dark fingers reaching in toward the principal star, NU Ori. On the NW edge the illumination is fainter. The bright area around NU was bigger than I’ve been able to represent it in the drawing. Much of the nebula shows the same greenish hue as M42. |
