Notes: My favourite Messier. Innumerable stars are seen with the full range of magnitudes from 8 down to the limit of what the telescope will show. There are two main concentrations of stars taking the shape of rectangular patches with a bridge of stars between them. The E edge of the cluster is defined by a conspicuous stream of 11th magnitude stars running exactly NS. |
